Dr. Rana C. Pullatt is a double board-certified Robotic and Bariatric Surgeon with over two decades of surgical experience. Dr. Ricardo Vitor Cohen
MD, PhD, IFSO President; Director, Obesity and Diabetes Center, Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz, Brazil

With over 30 years of experience, 15 of which as a member of the Clinical Staff at Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz, he was named by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) as one of the 30 most prominent doctors in the field.

He is the current president of IFSO and was president of the Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (SBCBM) from 2011 to 2012 and president of the Latin American Chapter of the World Federation of Bariatric Surgery (IFSO) from 2018 to 2019. He was president of the Advisory and Fiscal Council, SBCBM, from 2014 to 2015.

He has performed more than 10,000 surgeries and is a leader in pioneering research with effective results, such as the one that demonstrated the effectiveness of metabolic surgery to treat type 2 diabetes in patients who do not suffer from severe obesity.

He holds a PhD in Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of São Paulo.

He is editor of the journal “Obesity Surgery”, the official publication of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO).

President of the IFSO World Congress of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, held in Rio de Janeiro in September 2016.
